Meet Teresa: Who discovered more in herself thousands of miles away than she did in her own hometown of New York City.

With the love of writing and travel deeply rooted; a New Year's resolution would take her on an adventure that would put her in the path of opportunities abroad

Being born and raised in a family that didn't even own Passports, she set off for a journey to reawaken her life, soak up new cultures and explore cities rich with history.

What started as a personal travel blog a decade ago has blossomed into a passion for lifestyle. Her travel experience took her from her comfort zone in New York City to her current location in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

About Me

I'm Teresa; a native New Yorker born and raised in Spanish Harlem who traded the Big Apple for The Big Cheese. That's not really official but it sounds great. My adult life began when I studied at St. John's University as a double major in Journalism and Psychology. By 2008, I was financially spent and had to do the hard thing and take a break from school. This was difficult for me as a studious person that loves to learn, but it had to be done.

It was during this break that I realized that I didn't have to stop writing and learning. That same year, I created my first website; a travel blog. But wait, who makes a travel blog without traveling? I did. Being inspired by the documentary "A Map for Saturday", travel became my new crush. I was smitten by places abroad, mesmerized by the idea of living off a backpack and curious about what could happen. In 2010, I set off for a 5 month journey through South America.

Words are my thing

My career as a freelance travel writer began with the creation of my blog. This has always been my canvas to showcase my personal writing. I have since then written and worked with companies such as Airberlin, CheapOair, Hilton Garden Inn, Google, Social Media Week New York, Viator and more. 2012 was a cause for celebration as I graduated from The City College of New York with a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Journalism with summa cum laude honors.

Changing Continents

Life happened and I found myself with the opportunity to move to Europe. In 2014, I moved to Rotterdam, The Netherlands where I reside at the moment. Living in Europe also gave me an opportunity to attend Graduate School where I obtained a Master's degree in Media Studies with a concentration in Media, Culture and Society.

Having a freelance writing career for a decade has presented me with many fortuitous opportunities. Writing will and always be my *thing* and this new space is a place to combine my personal words and a canvas to showcase my writing. It is a place to be real in moments of solitude whilst sharing my journey with my readers.
