Celebrating a national holiday always sounds like fun to me, especially when it's not even your holiday. To understand the magnitude of Queensday is to somewhat compare it to St. Patty's Day in New York City. For one day, everyone is green, whether you are Irish, Jamaican or Korean. Upon making many Dutch friends during my travels in South America, I was warned about an upcoming holiday that I just had to celebrate no matter where I was. Considering my recent transition towards the Dutch life, I had to understand and experience this day. This holiday is called Queensday.

Sitting alone on the warm, clean sands of Palm Beach; my mind drifts away with the windward breeze of the Aruban coastline. Four other bloggers end their weekend of paradise today while I lay here alone on the beach reflecting. Tragic right? Reflecting by the water is what I do best; there is something about warm weather and the scent of Banana boat suntan lotion that brings peace of mind.
